The Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (La Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori or SIAE) have announced on Twitter their intention to use the Algorand blockchain for NFT and creative works protections. They'll hold a press conference on March 24, 2021, with Algorand inventor and founder Silvio Micali.
SIAE is the copyright collecting agency in Italy. Founded in the late 1800s, it is an intermediary between the authors of art and consumers of art. The SIAE manages royalty collections and is in charge of protecting artists' work, and paying out to artists what they've earned.
Today, the SIAE's official Twitter account tweeted the following:
Roughly translated, this says: "SIAE today together with
@Algorand embraces the future by exploring the opportunities offered by #blockchain technology to continue its mission of protecting creativity. Wednesday 24 March at 2.30 pm, we will talk about it in a press conference with @silviomicali. #NFT"
