Crypto for Coffee: Historic Italian Coffee Roaster to Accept ALGO

Want to save 20% of your next cup of joe, and pay for it with your stash of ALGO? Now you can, thanks to Caffè Barbera.

Caffè Barbera is a popular Italian coffee roaster with roots dating to the 19th century. They announced they'll begin accepting ALGO as payment, and use the Algorand blockchain for fast, low-cost decentralized payments.

They'll even offer a 20% discount to buyers who use ALGO to pay.

"We are committed to digital transformation, and believe blockchain technologies have an enormous potential," a company spokesperson said.

The coffee roaster began accepting cryptocurrency last year as one of the first coffee retailers to do so, but limited payments to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP.

Thanks to their partnership with Algorand they will now accept ALGO, USDT, USDC, BUSD, DAI, BNB, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, XLM, and Tezos.

"The move towards digital currencies is in some ways inevitable," the company spokesperson added.

They said that the move will "bring obvious advantages in efficiency, agility, and greater financial access. Even in a traditional sector like coffee, digital currencies will shape the future of online business-to-consumer sales in the next five to ten years, and international business-to-business sales. This is the right moment to invest and experiment with these technologies. Fortune favors the bold."
