Algorand Foundation announces winner of competition for fastest worldwide Algo transaction

Exciting news! The Algorand Foundation today announced the results of its "The Algorand 4 x 100 USDT Relay Race," a competition designed to test and exhibit the speed and efficiency of the Algorand blockchain network.

Marketed on Twitter, users were able to enter the relay competition by video-recording a $100 USD transaction sent across four continents on the Algorand blockchain. Entries were accepted via a Google Form.

Twenty-five teams across the world competed for a grand prize of $5,000 USD, with 100 participants spread across 25 countries and 6 continents.

A majority of participants were able to complete the transfer of USDT across the globe in under one minute.

However, the winning team was Team Algonauts from the US, UK, and France, who submitted a record transaction time of 35 seconds. You can view the Team Algonauts' video submission here.

Members of Team Algonauts celebrated their victory on Twitter this morning:

Congrats to the team, and to Algorand for an impressive and exciting competition!
